The artwork here isn’t mine, it was done by my incredibly talented and skilled friend Meghan McKay; who is an amazing graphic designer in her own right (and inspires me on a daily basis). With this piece titled “The Bard” she inspired me to craft a story around the image she had created. In it i saw an antagonist, a victim and a story waiting to be played out and told; a story which I took the liberty of crafting. I’ve started towards the end of the story, but over the course of writing it, i had a lot of ideas for how Simon got to this point, so there is definitely some more story to tell. If you take the time to read it, please let me know what you think any pointers are always welcome.
“Simon Blake is a detective, hot on the trail of a serial killer known only as “The Bard”, but as he tightens the net around his quarry he begins to struggle with his own sanity, his desire to save The Bards latest victim, and his own role in the killers twisted plans. Is he the hero he believes himself to be, or is he merely a pawn in the dark and violent games played by things beyond his comprehension?”
